South Korean international midfielder Lee Dong-gyeong is waiting for Germany's final offer as windows are closing in January.

Sources say Ulsan Hyundai, which is negotiating with the German Bundesliga club, wants an improved transfer fee by the deadline.

Hong Myung-bo, head coach of Ulsan Hyundai, said, "Ulsan agreed that Lee Dong-gyeong would move to Europe. We are considering a player to replace Lee Dong-gyeong's absence. But the best thing to do is for Lee Dong-gyeong to remain in Ulsan", he said.

Multiple European clubs, including Schalke 04, are interested in the left-footed midfielder.

In October 2020, he agreed to transfer to Portuguese club Boavista, but failed to coordinate the final conditions and broke down.

Ulsan will not block 24-year-old midfielder's transfer if an appropriate level of transfer fee is offered.

However, according to sources, there are no European proposals that meet the minimum standards yet.

According to Transfermarkt, Lee Dong-gyeong's transfer market value is 900,000 euros.

Lee Dong-gyeong is currently in Lebanon to play the third round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifying round.

Another source predicted that it is not easy for Bundesliga clubs, which are suffering from financial difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to raise funds for Lee Dong-gyeong's contract.
