German Bundesliga club Hertha BSC is set to sign South Korean international forward Lee Dong-jun.

According to the Korean sports newspaper Sports Chosun, Hertha will recruit Lee Dong-jun by offering Ulsan Hyundai an amount equivalent to the buyout clause.

Lee Dong-jun, who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, received a strong love call from Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes at the end of 2020.

24-yeard old Striker was also on the observation list of Wolverhampton Wonders last year.

Recently, multiple Western Asian clubs showed interest in Lee Dong-jun, but Ulsan, which finished second in the K League last season, expressed its intention not to sell Lee Dong-jun to win the 2022 season.

In addition, Ulsan recently allowed Lee Dong-Gyeong to advance to Europe, and Lee Dong-jun planned to remain as Oh Se-hun, the under-23 national striker, is negotiating with Shimizu Espulse in the J League.

However, at the time of signing with Ulsan, Lee Dong-jun inserted a buyout clause only for proposals from European clubs. Hertha offered this amount, so Ulsan could not refuse it.

Former Busan I-Park Star has been steadily seeking to advance to Europe and is currently working with an agency such as Jeong Woo-yeong, who plays for Freiburg.

173cm-tall forward is currently called up for the South Korean national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifying round, but will move to Germany for medical tests.

Paulo Bento also allowed Lee Dong-jun to leave for a while to sign a European club.

Lee Dong-jun, who scored five goals and four assists in 26 K-League 1 games in the 2020 season in Busan, moved to Ulsan in the 2021 season. He made his debut by participating in the FIFA Club World Cup with Ulsan, which won the Asian Champions League.
