South Korean international striker Kim Shin-wook, who conquered the Chinese Super League, is preparing for a new challenge.
Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua announced on its official channel on August 6 that it will terminate the contract with Kim Shin-wook.
Shanghai made the decision because it is difficult to utilize Kim Shin-wook, who participates in the Asian qualifying round of the World Cup due to China's self-quarantine rule for three weeks of foreign arrivals.
Kim Shin-wook, whose contract with Shanghai expires later this year, will train in Shanghai for the rest of the year and focus on the World Cup Asian qualifying matches.
When Kim Shin-wook broke up with Shanghai, three clubs in China have already made suggestions. All three teams offered a large annual salary of $1.8 million.
Multiple K-League clubs were also interested in Kim Shin-wook, but failed to meet the Chinese club's offer under salary conditions.
Multiple West Asian clubs are also interested in Kim Shin-wook. Kim Shin-wook is thinking of an environment where he can live comfortably with his family.
Sources said Kim Shin-wook is interested in the J-League in Japan, which he has not yet experienced. After the transfer market opens in January 2022, a good proposal will be made.
Kim Shin-wook scored 15 goals and 3 assists in 30 games in Shanghai Shenhua. He scored 16 goals in 56 A-match appearances as a South Korean international player.
