There is a prospect that Tottenham Hotspur's Yang Min-hyeok may not make his debut and may be loaned out immediately.

Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-2 to Leicester City in the 23rd round of the 2024-2025 English Premier League (PL) at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. As a result, Tottenham remained on 24 points and failed to widen the gap with the lower ranks. The point gap with 16th place Everton is 1 point, and the gap with 18th place Wolverhampton Wanderers is 8 points.

As Tottenham is in crisis, rumors of Yang Min-hyeok's loan have also been raised. British 'Football London' said, "Tottenham will continue to use manager Angie Postecoglou even in the midst of the crisis. They will try to recruit at least one player in the next week," and "Yang Min-hyeok does not seem to be an option right now. “If Tottenham recruits a new striker and a suitable destination appears, he can be loaned in the January transfer market,” the report said.

Yang Min-hyeok is a rising star who entered Tottenham after a sensational performance in the K-League last season. He confirmed his move to Tottenham in August, and joined the team a month early in December at Tottenham’s request. Since Tottenham did not have enough wingers due to injuries, Yang Min-hyeok was expected to get an opportunity right away. Yang Min-hyeok raised the expectations of Korean fans by sitting on the bench in the League Cup match against Liverpool on the 8th.

However, Yang Min-hyeok has yet to get a chance to make his debut. He was shockingly left out of the roster for the FA Cup 3rd round against Tamworth, where his debut was expected. Since then, he has been on the list of candidates for the Everton match and this Leicester match, but has not had a chance to make a substitute appearance. Promising players such as Mikey Moore and Will Lancsheer, who are from the club’s youth system, are getting opportunities by being substituted in the second half.

Coach Postecoglou has said several times before that it will take time to deploy Yang Min-hyeok. Before the last match against Newcastle United, he said, “I don’t have any specific plans for Yang Min-hyeok right now. I’m just going to let him adapt. Yang Min-hyeok is very young and he came from the other side of the world. He’ll be facing a completely different level of football here. I’ll just give him time to adapt.”

As the possibility of a loan has been raised, actively listening to offers from new teams where he can play could be a breakthrough. After gaining experience in the English Championship (second division), he could return to Tottenham and start the pre-season together with them ahead of next season. Or, there have been suggestions that he could maintain his match sense with the U21 (under-21) team.
