Cristiano Ronaldo: "Saudi League is better than MLS"
Cristiano Ronaldo made a confident statement.
Ronaldo recently held a press conference after his team Al-Nassr’s friendly match and appeared on a talk show hosted by Edu Aguirre of El Chiringuito to answer various questions. The 41-year-old Ronaldo, who has finished his time in a major European league and is currently experiencing the Asian stage with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, is a person who always brings up topics whenever he is interviewed.
The most talked-about comment was his statement that “the Saudi League is better than MLS.” He mentioned Major League Soccer in the United States and said, “All the players are flocking to Saudi Arabia these days. In the past year alone, more top-level players have joined Saudi Arabia. Everyone is welcome.” In a previous interview, Ronaldo said, “the Saudi League is better than Ligue 1 in France,” and once again he praised his own league by mentioning another league.
In particular, both Ligue 1 and MLS are seen as targeting their long-time rival Lionel Messi. Foreign media outlets that reported this statement also interpreted it as ‘still being conscious of Messi.’ Messi played for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France and Inter Miami in the United States. Before going to the United States, he received an extremely high salary offer from a Saudi club, but he turned it down, drawing attention.
Ronaldo also claimed, “I am the most complete player in history.” He also showed his third-person speaking style by saying, “If Cristiano says he is not perfect, that is a lie.”
One of Ronaldo’s greatest strengths is that he can score goals with his entire body and that he possesses both physical ability and technique. Pele is usually considered not only the best player in history but also the most complete player, but Ronaldo claimed that he has surpassed that stronghold. Ronaldo added, “There may be people who prefer Pele, Messi, and Maradona. I understand and respect that.”
