Tottenham Hotspur players have already lost their original form as fatigue increases.

On the 10th, Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-2 to Aston Villa in the 4th round (round of 32) of the 2024-2025 English FA Cup at Villa Bark in Birmingham, England.

As a result, Tottenham was eliminated from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup out of the 4 competitions they participated in this season. The English Premier League (PL) is in a slump, 14th place, and the UEFA Europa League, which is relatively cruising, has just finished its league phase, so it is too early to talk about winning. The possibility of this season ending without a trophy has increased rapidly in a week.

The score difference was one goal, but the gap in performance was more than that. The number of successful duels and recoveries was not much different. However, when you watch the actual game, Tottenham's pressure was often meaningless because it came a beat late, while Villa players worked together in unison to create attacking opportunities.

The Tottenham midfielders had extremely narrow vision. Rodrigo Bentancur, who was the most reliable midfielder that day, was noticeable for not being able to find a place to pass and forcing the ball out, only to have it stolen. The defenders were unable to find their positions when switching to defense, leaving holes all over the place.
When the players suffered from extreme physical strain, the younger players, although in better physical condition, were unable to control the game. 18-year-old winger Mikey Moore was substituted early after a poor performance, and 19-year-old midfielder Lucas Beribal and defender Archie Gray also seemed confused about where to position themselves amid the breakdown in tactics.

Tottenham played the game without a whopping 12 first-team players. As the match with more than 10 injured players continues for several months, the physical strength of the first-team players, including Son Heung-min, who continues to play as starters, seems to have been completely depleted.

Tottenham will not have any midweek matches for the next two weeks. On the contrary, there will be no weekend matches the following week, so they will have to suffer much less from physical strain for the next three weeks. It will be a sweet rest and tactical training period. In other words, they will have to show a rebound during this period to be convincing enough to say that manager Angie Postecoglou’s recent slump was due to physical strength.
