FC Seoul Sign Polish Striker Patryk Klimala in Bid to Bolster Attacking Firepower
FC Seoul have announced the signing of Polish striker Patryk Klimala, a 27-year-old forward renowned for his pace and versatility across multiple top-flight leagues. Registered under the name Klimala and assigned the number 32 shirt, the former Celtic FC and New York Red Bulls marksman becomes the first-ever Polish player in FC Seoul’s 42-year club history.
Born in 1998, Klimala arrives in the K League 1 after showcasing his talents in Scotland with Celtic FC, in the MLS with New York Red Bulls, in Israel with Hapoel Be'er Sheva FC, and most recently in Australia with Sydney FC. His wealth of international experience, including exposure to Asian football, brings both quality and adaptability to Seoul’s frontline.
Renowned for his blistering speed and extensive work rate, Klimala is expected to enhance Seoul’s attacking threat with his sharp movement and clinical finishing. The club also highlighted his pressing game and physicality, believing his high-energy style will significantly contribute to disrupting opposition build-ups and strengthening the team’s overall attacking structure.
After emerging as a standout talent in the Polish Ekstraklasa, Klimala made a high-profile move to Celtic FC in 2020, marking his arrival on the European stage. His subsequent spell with New York Red Bulls cemented his reputation as a key attacking asset, proving his adaptability in a highly competitive league. A switch to Sydney FC followed, where he continued to shine and gained valuable experience in the Asian football landscape. Notably, he featured in the 2024–25 AFC Champions League 2 with Sydney, facing off against a range of Asian clubs — experience that FC Seoul believe will be invaluable in their own continental ambitions.
Speaking on his move, Klimala expressed his delight at joining the club. “I am really happy to join FC Seoul,” he said. “I know this is a big club, and that’s why I want to achieve a lot here. I don’t have any personal goals — my focus is purely on playing for FC Seoul. Personal records are secondary. The most important thing is the team, FC Seoul.”
With all administrative procedures now completed, Klimala has already begun training with his new teammates and is determined to hit the ground running in the K League 1. Fans will be eager to see his fiery debut in the famous red and black, as he looks to make his mark on South Korean football.
