Raków, Legia and Lech Eye K League Top Scorer Jeon Jin-woo
Jeon Jin-woo’s Korea Breakthrough Caps Stellar K League Form, Triggers Polish Interest
Jeon Jin-woo, the current top scorer in South Korea’s K League 1, has reportedly attracted interest from some of Poland’s biggest clubs following an impressive international debut in June.
According to Polish journalist Dawid Basiak, Raków have been particularly impressed by Jeon’s recent form, with scouts identifying him as a potential solution to their attacking depth issues heading into the 2025–26 season. Raków Częstochowa, Legia Warsaw and Lech Poznań are all said to be monitoring the 25‑year‑old Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors forward, who is enjoying the best season of his career to date.
Jeon has scored 11 goals and provided three assists in 17 league matches this season, leading the K League in goals and emerging as a standout performer under Gus Poyet. His fine domestic form earned him a senior national team call-up, and he made the most of his opportunity with two notable performances during South Korea’s World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.
On debut in Basra against Iraq, Jeon delivered a composed display on the left wing, assisting the second goal in South Korea’s 2‑0 victory with a precise pass into the box for Oh Hyeon‑gyu. Four days later in Seoul, he rose highest to meet a 30‑minute cross against Kuwait; his header took a deflection and sparked the move that led to South Korea’s 4‑0 win, officially logged as an own goal. Across both matches, Jeon impressed with his pace, spatial awareness, and link-up play—traits unlikely to go unnoticed.
His club form and international breakthrough have coincided with a window of opportunity in Poland, where all three clubs find themselves seeking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025‑26 season.
Raków Częstochowa finished the 2024‑25 Ekstraklasa season in second place with 69 points, registering 20 wins, 9 draws and only 5 losses. Though qualifying for the UEFA Conference League, they averaged just 1.97 goals per game—good, but insufficient for continental success. Replacing outgoing striker responsibilities and adding clinical edge is a key priority; scouts believe Jeon’s consistent finishing and work rate would complement their structured attack.
Legia Warsaw, led by Gonçalo Feio, concluded the season fifth in the league but crucially won the 2025 Polish Cup, securing a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League. They also reached the Conference League quarter-finals, where they impressed against Chelsea. Their average of 1.87 goals per appearance reflects a capable attack, though reliance on loan forwards and ageing options has brought instability. With top scorer Marc Gual returning experience but few consistent partners in the front line, the club aims to inject youth, versatility, and reliability into their attack—qualities that Jeon demonstrably offers.
Lech Poznań emerged as league champions in 2024‑25 with 70 points from 34 matches (22‑4‑8), scoring 68 goals. Yet despite domestic dominance, their xG data and finishing rate suggest vulnerability in front of goal—several clear chances remained unconverted. With European football awaiting them, the club is actively targeting attacking reinforcements; recent interest in wingers like Gaspar Campos indicates a clear plan to improve goal threat and squad depth. Jeon, with his versatility and finishing, is seen as a strong summer candidate.
With his military service already completed and no restrictions on a move abroad, Jeon is fully eligible for overseas transfer.
Polish journalist Dawid Basiak names Raków, Legia, and Lech as monitoring his progress, and while no formal bids have been made, the consensus is clear: each club’s goalscoring needs align with Jeon’s strengths.
For Ekstraklasa sides pursuing prepared and affordable attacking talent, Jeon represents a compelling proposition: prolific in Korea, capable at international level, and with room to develop further in Europe. As the summer transfer window opens, expect his name to feature prominently in scouting reports—and perhaps, lead to a move that opens doors to a continental career.
