Girona’s Minsu Kim on radar of several Spanish clubs, with Granada pushing for loan
Multiple LaLiga2 sides chasing Girona starlet Minsu Kim — Granada at the front of the queue
LaLiga Hypermotion side Granada are eyeing a loan move for one of Girona’s brightest young prospects, South Korean midfielder Minsu Kim, as part of their summer recruitment drive.
The 19-year-old, who joined Girona from CF Damm two summers ago, has been a standout performer in the club’s youth and reserve setup, and is now on the radar of several Segunda División clubs. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo and Estadio Deportivo, Granada have made formal enquiries about a potential loan deal for Kim, with an offer that would guarantee him regular first-team minutes next season.
A rising star in Catalunya
Kim has enjoyed a breakthrough year in Girona’s academy. Operating mainly as an advanced playmaker, he registered 13 goals in 33 appearances for Girona B in the Tercera Federación and played a crucial role in their promotion push under Quique Álvarez. The team currently hold a 1–0 lead from the first leg of their playoff final against UD San Fernando, with Kim having completed the full 90 minutes in the first leg.
Notably, the teenager was also instrumental in Girona’s UEFA Youth League campaign, showcasing his technical quality, vision, and goal threat against elite youth opposition across Europe.
First-team exposure and Adidas backing
Such has been Kim’s development that manager Míchel handed him first-team opportunities across all three competitions during the 2024–25 season. He made his senior debut in LaLiga, featured in two Copa del Rey ties, and memorably earned minutes in the UEFA Champions League — a remarkable feat for a player still in his teens.
In pre-season preparations, Kim has regularly been included in the senior squad, and Girona rate his long-term potential highly. He is also already associated with Adidas, underlining his growing commercial profile and the belief in his future among sponsors and scouts alike.
Granada lead the race — but decision awaits
With Girona B on the brink of promotion to the Segunda Federación, the club faces a key decision on Kim’s short-term future. A loan move to LaLiga Hypermotion could offer a more accelerated path to top-level experience, especially with Granada positioning themselves strongly to secure his services.
The Andalusian club, keen to return to LaLiga after last season’s relegation, see Kim as a dynamic addition to bolster their midfield creativity and attacking transitions. Their project promises regular senior minutes — something Girona may struggle to guarantee at this stage given the step-up to LaLiga competition.
Other clubs from the second tier are also monitoring Kim’s situation closely, but Granada are believed to be in pole position. However, Girona have yet to make a final decision. According to Mundo Deportivo, all options remain open — including Kim staying with the reserves if they secure promotion, stepping up fully to the first team, or leaving temporarily on loan.
A pivotal summer ahead
The coming weeks will be decisive for Kim Minsu’s next steps. With his stock rising both in Spain and in South Korea, the versatile midfielder is now firmly on the radar of professional clubs. Whether he continues under Míchel’s supervision in Girona, or takes the next step in his development on loan, his trajectory suggests it is only a matter of time before he becomes a regular in the professional ranks.
In what could be a landmark summer for the Girona academy graduate, one thing is certain: Kim Minsu has outgrown youth football — and the professional game is calling.
