FC Barcelona have expressed interest in Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae as a possible replacement for Ronald Araújo, should the Uruguayan leave the Catalan club this summer.

According to reports from German outlet tz, Barça sporting director Deco has identified Kim as a defender who fits the club’s tactical profile under new head coach Hansi Flick. The South Korean international is admired for his composure on the ball, distribution from the back, and commanding one-on-one defending – qualities that would align well with Flick’s system, which bears similarities to the approach he employed during his time at Bayern.

Barcelona have also shown interest in French centre-back Dayot Upamecano, but financial limitations mean any transfer activity is contingent on outgoing sales. The club’s economic situation remains tight, and a move for either defender would likely require a significant departure – with Araújo seen as the most likely candidate to generate funds.

While Upamecano is a long-standing target for Barcelona – the Catalans tracked him even before his move to RB Leipzig – Kim’s name is gaining traction due to Bayern’s openness to a potential sale.
