FC Andorra Target Girona's Korean Starlet Min-Su Kim as Part of Ambitious Loan Strategy
FC Andorra, the Spanish second-division club owned by former Barcelona captain Gerard Piqué, have set their sights on a number of La Masia and Catalan-based youth talents this summer — with 19-year-old South Korean winger Min-Su Kim emerging as one of their top targets.
Rising Korean Talent Catching Attention
Min-Su Kim, a left-sided attacker from Girona FC B, is on the radar of Andorra's technical team as they continue to build a squad capable of competing in LaLiga Hypermotion. Kim has enjoyed a breakout season in Spain’s fourth tier, scoring 13 goals and playing a key role in Girona B’s promotion to the Segunda Federación.
The teenager has also made a handful of appearances for Girona’s first team under Míchel, featuring in six official matches — an impressive feat given the club’s rise in La Liga in recent seasons. His pace, sharp dribbling, and eye for goal have made him a standout in Girona’s academy and a strong candidate for senior-level development.
Piqué’s Andorra Continue to Bet on Youth
Andorra have submitted a formal request to Girona for the loan of Min-Su Kim, as well as fellow attacking prospect Jastin García. Piqué’s club have a proven track record of nurturing young talents from top academies, especially from FC Barcelona’s La Masia, with players such as Adri Vilanova, Mika Mármol, Álex Valle, and others having passed through the Estadi Nacional in recent years.
The project at Andorra, now led by newly appointed manager Ibai Gómez, emphasizes a high-possession, attacking style of football. This philosophy fits well with Kim’s technical profile and development needs, offering a realistic pathway to regular minutes at a professional level in a demanding league.
A Platform for Progress
LaLiga Hypermotion has become a proven springboard for young players, with clubs like Mirandés building a reputation for turning loan spells into career-defining opportunities. FC Andorra hope to replicate that model, offering Kim the platform to accelerate his growth while contributing meaningfully on the pitch.
Should the move materialize, it would mark a significant milestone for Kim Min-Su, who could become one of the few Korean players to establish themselves in the Spanish professional leagues outside of the top-flight spotlight. For Andorra, it's a strategic gamble on a player with serious potential — and a sign of Piqué's continued commitment to youth-driven football.
