Manchester United and Napoli Among Clubs in Direct Contact Over PSG’s Lee Kang-in
Lee Kang-in’s future at Paris Saint-Germain appears increasingly uncertain, with several clubs from both the Premier League and Serie A — including Manchester United and Napoli — having entered direct contact with the South Korean international regarding a potential summer transfer.
According to a report published on August 5 by Spanish outlet Marca, the 24-year-old midfielder is exploring the possibility of leaving PSG in search of greater playing time and a more central role at a top European club. Despite making 49 appearances last season — including 11 in the Champions League — much of Lee’s involvement came from the bench, and he is now said to be seeking a move that would offer him more consistent starts in decisive fixtures.
While PSG manager Luis Enrique is reportedly reluctant to let him go, Marca states that Lee is open to negotiating his exit, with a number of teams having already made direct approaches. His current deal runs until June 2028, meaning any transfer would require an agreement on a fee with the Parisian club.
Lee featured in four matches at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer, unlike teammates Marco Asensio and Carlos Soler who were left out of the squad. His inclusion suggests he remains part of the club’s plans, but Lee is nonetheless considering a “sharp turn” in his career trajectory in pursuit of a more prominent role.
This report gains additional credibility from the fact that it was authored by Marca’s Valencia correspondent Diego Pico — a journalist with long-standing insight into Lee’s career, given the player’s roots in the Valencia CF youth academy. Lee’s current agent, Javier Garrido, is also a former Valencia player, further strengthening the trustworthiness of the report.
Should he depart, Lee would leave PSG having enhanced his continental profile, and it is no surprise that major clubs in England and Italy are now vying for his signature.
