The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced today that it has entered into a commercial rights agreement with Beijing Shinai Sports Media Technology Co. Ltd (“Shinai”) in respect of certain media and sponsorship rights in China PR.
The AFC recently terminated a similar commercial arrangement with Super Sports Media Inc. Under this original agreement, Shinai was a key licensee of rights and therefore the new arrangement directly between the AFC and Shinai will provide continuity to local football fans in terms of their viewing experience as well as commercial partners within China PR.
Shinai will provide content of all AFC competitions – including on the popular iQiyi Sports platform – until the end of the 2021-2024 rights cycle. These competitions include the AFC club competitions in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ in 2024 and the Continent’s flagship tournament the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.
This commercial deal will be managed by Football Marketing Asia Limited, the exclusive commercial partner for the AFC’s competitions in 2021-2024 and 2025-2028. The partnership includes a comprehensive set of rights to be exploited in the China PR market.
