Lee Jae-sung, a Korean player playing for Mainz 05, has been selected by the German soccer media ‘Kicker’ for the 2021 winter Rangliste attacking midfielder ‘National Class’.

‘Kicker’ announced the first half of the German Bundesliga Rangliste for the 2021-22 season on their homepage on January 1st.

Rangliste ranks players in the Bundesliga by position. It was first launched in 1956 and boasts a history and tradition of more than 60 years, and is published in two parts, summer and winter. The evaluation criteria are strict and the reliability is high.

Rangliste are divided into Weltklasse (WK, world class), Internationale Klasse (IK, international class), and Nationale Klasse (NK, national class). Among them, the international class means a level that can be passed on the European stage, and the national class means a player who stands out in the Bundesliga.

Lee Jae-sung was named in the national class as an attacking midfielder. ‘Kicker’ said, “Lee Jae-sung, 29, who is playing for Mainz, needed time to adjust to the first division. However, he gained strength and won the starting competition. He has an important role not only for his club but also for the national team,” he explained.

Lee Jae-sung was honored to be selected by the Rangliste from his first season playing in his first division. He has two goals and two assists in 15 league appearances this season.

Meanwhile, in the case of WK, only three players were selected across all positions. Thomas Muller, Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) and Elling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund).
