Son Heung-Min who joined the South Korean national football team for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, has been approved by FIFA for the "black mask" to be worn during the tournament.
An official of the national team said on the 17th, "Son Heung-min's mask was approved to be worn in the game through a meeting with FIFA the previous day."
Usually, wearing equipment other than soccer shoes requires FIFA's approval before the game. KFA communicated with the Tottenham club in advance and prepared in advance so that Son Heung-min would not have any problem wearing a mask at the World Cup.
An official said, "There was little possibility that the mask would not be approved. It's just a routine procedure," he said.
However, according to FIFA regulations, the mask must be black or the same color as the uniform to be worn. and Son Heung-min wore a mask during the national team training. Under the mask, his squad number '7' was attached. However, following FIFA's instructions, he has to erase the squad number on the mask.
The national team wears red home uniforms in all three group matches, and Son Heung-min only brought a black mask.
