After rejecting interest from Olympique de Marseille last summer, Hwang Hee-chan has endured his most challenging season since arriving at Molineux, hampered by injuries and struggling to cement his place in Vitor Pereira’s plans. As Wolves look to reshape their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, the South Korean international now finds himself on the club’s summer sell list.
According to The Athletic, Wolves are planning a significant squad revamp under Pereira, focusing on key positions in their 3-4-2-1 system. Top of their shopping list are players to fill the dual No 10 roles, with Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha having already departed and Goncalo Guedes likely to follow. Hwang, whose form has dipped for more than a year, is seen as surplus to requirements and could be moved on if the right offer comes in.
Wolves will also be in the market for at least one new wing-back, with Rayan Ait-Nouri expected to join Manchester City and uncertainty surrounding Nelson Semedo’s contract situation. Should Semedo reject Wolves’ offer, they may need to bring in two players to fill the gap.
Up front, Jorgen Strand Larsen remains the only specialist No 9, although Pereira reportedly views Hwang as a potential alternative in the role. Nevertheless, Hwang’s inconsistent performances leave his future at Molineux in doubt.
Elsewhere, Wolves hope to finally recoup some of their investment in Fabio Silva, five years after signing him for over £30 million, with the striker entering the final year of his contract following a solid season in La Liga. They are also open to offers for Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore, with Cunha’s £62.5 million move and Ait-Nouri’s expected departure set to boost their transfer kitty.
It promises to be a busy summer at Molineux as Wolves attempt to rebalance the squad and build a team that fits Pereira’s vision.
