Urawa Reds are reportedly in talks to sign Slovenian international striker Blaž Kramer from Konyaspor in a move that could bolster their attack ahead of this month’s FIFA Club World Cup. According to Turkish outlet Hakimiyet and Japanese media reports, the J-League giants are considering a late swoop to strengthen their squad for the tournament in the United States.

Kramer, 27, has enjoyed a productive season in Turkey’s Süper Lig, scoring 17 goals and providing 7 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. Standing at 191cm, the imposing centre-forward’s physical presence and scoring touch could provide a valuable option for manager Maciej Skorza, who previously managed in Poland’s Ekstraklasa, where Kramar featured for Legia Warsaw before moving to Turkey last summer.

Currently on international duty with Slovenia, Kramer started their recent friendly against Luxembourg and is expected to feature again against Bosnia and Herzegovina on 10 June. FIFA regulations require clubs to release players for international duty during the designated window, meaning Kramer would not be able to join Urawa until his national team commitments are complete.

Urawa’s sporting director, Kiyoshi Horinouchi, hinted at the possibility of late squad additions before the Club World Cup opener against River Plate on 17 June but refused to confirm any specific deals. Speaking to local media before departure, he said: “I don’t think we will add any players by the 10 June deadline, but I can’t say that definitively.”

The J-League outfit has already been searching for attacking reinforcements this season, and the chance to secure a proven European forward just days before the Club World Cup would mark a significant coup. As the competition looms, fans will be eager to see whether Kramar’s potential arrival can provide the extra firepower needed for Urawa to make a deep run on the world stage.
