Jordan’s men’s national team have been awarded a substantial bonus pool of $3 million USD following their historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup – the first time the country has ever reached the tournament’s final stage.
According to West Asia media outlet WinWin, the Jordan Football Association (JFA) will distribute the prize money across players, coaching staff, and support personnel based on participation throughout the qualification process. FC Seoul defender Yazan Al-Arab, one of the squad’s most consistent performers, is set to receive the maximum individual bonus of $150,000.
The payout comes after Jordan finished second in Group B of the AFC third qualifying round, securing their place behind group winners South Korea. Jordan’s fate was sealed on 11 June, when they defeated Oman 3-0 before watching South Korea beat Iraq 2-0 later that night – a result that confirmed Jordan’s direct passage to the World Cup. A video of Jordan’s players celebrating the news as they watched the Korea-Iraq match together quickly went viral across social media.
WinWin reports that around 50 players were involved in five training camps held during the qualification phase. Any player who was called up and took part in training will receive a bonus, with payments scaled according to how many camps they attended. Players who featured in all five will collect the maximum reward, while those who joined for a single camp will still receive at least $30,000.
Bonuses will also be paid to technical staff, medical teams, and various support personnel, as the JFA honours all those who contributed to the team’s unprecedented achievement.
Yazan Al-Arab, who has become a mainstay in Jordan’s defence and currently plays in the K League 1 with FC Seoul, took part in every camp and match, earning him the full $150,000 payout.
Speaking after FC Seoul’s recent match against Gwangju FC, Al-Arab reflected on the historic moment:
“It was a truly emotional and historic moment for us as Jordanians. The entire team was later invited to the Royal Palace for a medal ceremony. His Royal Highness has always supported us, and we were motivated by his trust and encouragement. To reward that faith by qualifying for the World Cup was an incredible honour.”
Jordan’s qualification has been hailed as a watershed moment for football in the nation, and the financial reward reflects the symbolic and sporting significance of their achievement.
