Premier League god Jesse Lingard will lead the team as the 'captain' of FC Seoul for the new season.
Seoul announced, "Coach Kim Ki-dong has appointed Lingard as the new captain for the 2025 season and Kim Jin-soo as the vice-captain."
Seoul explained, "Lingard, who showed sufficient ability as the interim captain last year, and Kim Jin-soo, who has abundant experience as a captain, have shown their dedication, which led to Coach Kim Ki-dong's selection."
Lingard, who joined Seoul last year, has been a solid supporter of the team's revival and the success of the first K-League match to surpass 500,000 spectators.
Despite being a foreign player, he served as the interim captain and faithfully fulfilled his role as a bridge between the coaching staff and the team with his characteristic sincerity and sense of responsibility.
Lingard said, "It is a great honor to be the captain of a club representing the K-League," and added, "It will not be an easy journey as we have to set high goals for this season, but I am preparing as best as I can. I would like to thank the Seoul fans for their great support last season, and I look forward to the many fans who will visit the stadium and cheer me on in the upcoming 2025 season."
Kim Jin-soo, who left Jeonbuk Hyundai and transferred to Seoul as vice-captain ahead of the new season, expressed his determination by saying, "All the players in Seoul are training their best ahead of the 2025 season. I am honored to have been given the role of vice-captain right after joining the team, and I will always think about how I can help the team and work hard."
Meanwhile, Ki Sung-yong, who has been active as the captain of Seoul, will continue his responsibility and role as the team's spiritual leader by helping the new captains.
