In a dramatic twist to the summer transfer saga, Victor Osimhen has rejected Al-Hilal’s latest and most lucrative offer, despite the Saudi club meeting Napoli’s demands.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Al-Hilal had significantly increased their proposal, tabling a €75 million package (including bonuses) to secure the prolific Nigerian striker. Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he netted 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions, ultimately decided against making the move.
The decision leaves Al-Hilal scrambling to bolster their attacking ranks, particularly after also missing out on AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez. As reported by renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Theo turned down a lucrative approach from the Saudi outfit, forcing the club to pivot towards alternative targets.
Angelino in the Spotlight
With Hernandez’s refusal, Al-Hilal have shifted their focus to Roma’s left-back Angelino. The Spanish defender, under contract with the Giallorossi until 2028, enjoyed a stellar season with 4 goals and 6 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
Angelino’s consistent performances have caught the eye of several top clubs, but it’s Al-Hilal who are now leading the charge with an offer exceeding €20 million as they seek to reinforce their defensive line.
Alternative Targets: Bernardo Silva and Viktor Gyökeres
In addition to Angelino, Al-Hilal are also considering Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres to add star power to their squad. The club is determined to make a statement in the transfer market after being rebuffed by both Osimhen and Hernandez.
Bernardo Silva, one of the Premier League’s most versatile midfielders, has long been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, though his loyalty to City has made negotiations difficult. Meanwhile, Viktor Gyökeres, the Swedish striker who has impressed in Portugal, is seen as another viable option to lead the line.
Osimhen’s Galatasaray Success
Osimhen’s decision comes after a remarkable campaign at Galatasaray, where he fired 26 goals in 30 Super Lig matches, adding 6 goals in 7 Europa League games and providing a total of 8 assists. Despite Napoli’s willingness to sell, the striker’s personal terms proved the stumbling block that ended Al-Hilal’s hopes.
With Osimhen opting to stay put, Al-Hilal’s quest for a marquee signing continues—and the club’s big-spending ambitions remain undimmed as they circle Europe’s elite in search of top-tier talent.
One thing is clear: the summer transfer window is far from over, and Al-Hilal’s determination to make a splash in the Saudi Pro League shows no sign of abating.
