LAFC have officially announced that they will hold a major press conference on Tuesday, August 6 at 2:00 PM PT (Wednesday, August 7 at 6:00 AM KST) at BMO Stadium’s Field Club in downtown Los Angeles. The club confirmed the event through an official press release earlier today, noting that the announcement would be broadcast live via LAFC.com, the club’s YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) channels.
The highly anticipated announcement is widely expected to be the official unveiling of South Korean superstar Son Heung-min, whose move to LAFC has become an open secret in recent days.
Son departed Seoul for Los Angeles on Monday evening after finalizing the last details of his contract with LAFC representatives who had traveled to Korea. He landed in LA early Tuesday morning but entered the city quietly, reportedly avoiding the main arrivals hall to keep a low profile ahead of the official announcement.
Just hours after arriving in the United States, Son Heung-min was spotted at BMO Stadium, where he took in LAFC’s Leagues Cup clash against Tigres UANL from Mexico. The match provided a fitting backdrop to what now appears to be a symbolic beginning of Son’s journey with the Black & Gold.
All signs point to the press conference doubling as an official welcome ceremony — or “signing day” — for Son, as LAFC prepares to present one of the biggest signings in Major League Soccer history.
Stay tuned for full coverage and live updates from BMO Stadium.
