Fenerbahce showed interest in signing Son Heung-min, but Tottenham Hotspur has no intention of selling him.
On the 3rd, Turkish 'Fanatic' reported, "Tottenham has made a decision on Son Heung-min, who is linked to Fenerbahce. According to a Tottenham source, they definitely have no intention of letting Son Heung-min go during the winter transfer market."
Fenerbahce is a team led by coach Jose Mourinho, who worked with Son Heung-min at Tottenham. In Korea, he is familiar as the team where Kim Min-jae once played. Coach Mourinho is the one who created Son Heung-min and Harry Kane at Tottenham, and he is a coach who can maximize Son Heung-min's scoring ability. With Allan Saint-Maximin, who was loaned out ahead of this season, deciding to leave the team early, the team needed to recruit a left-handed player, and so they took interest in Son Heung-min.
Son Heung-min has been the subject of a lot of transfer rumors this season. This is because Tottenham changed from the original plan to a one-year extension option, and Son Heung-min's future became unclear. One of the many transfer rumors was Fenerbahce. There were several reports that they were considering recruiting Son Heung-min, considering his relationship with Mourinho.
Even though Son Heung-min and Tottenham signed a one-year extension contract in early January, the possibility of a transfer continued to be reported. Since it was not a long-term contract, Tottenham could accept the transfer fee if offered. Because of this possibility, rumors of recruiting Fenerbahce were raised again.
However, Tottenham has no reason to sell Son Heung-min right now. Since the acquisition of Bayern Munich's Mathis Tel, which they had been aiming for this winter, fell through, there is a shortage of available left-handers. Furthermore, Son Heung-min is the player who can be expected to have the most attacking points for Tottenham. Although he has been in a slump this season, he has still recorded 6 goals and 7 assists in the English Premier League (PL).
