Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr is looking to make a bold investment in Kaoru Mitoma.
CBS Sports reported that "Al Nassr is preparing a second and final offer for Mitoma. The value could rise to 90 million pounds."
Previously, multiple media outlets, including sports magazine The Athletic, reported that "Al Nassr officially offered a transfer fee of 54 million pounds for Mitoma, but Brighton & Hove Albion rejected it."
Mitoma is a key striker for Brighton. He has appeared in all 23 league games this season, 20 of which were starts. With 5 goals and 3 assists so far, he has definitely improved from last season, and is steadily approaching his career-high of 7 goals and 6 assists in the 2022-2023 season in the English Premier League (PL).
Al Nassr wants to recruit Mitoma, who is in his prime at 27 years old. Al Nassr, who played a leading role in the rise of Saudi football by recruiting Cristiano Ronaldo in the winter of 2023, has yet to achieve great things, having lost the league title to Al Ittihad and Al Hilal in each of the past two seasons. This season, they have also been somewhat stagnant, finishing third in the league, but they have succeeded in strengthening their attack by virtually confirming the recruitment of Victor Boniface or John Duran this winter.
Al Nassr intends to take a step closer to winning the league by recruiting wingers as well as strikers. Mitoma is a suitable resource in many ways. Although his high score may be lower than that of Sadio Mane, who is currently Al Nassr's starting player, his dribbling ability and attack point production are sufficient for Saudi Arabia. Al Nassr wants to join the league title race by recruiting Mitoma, even if it means spending a lot of money.
Brighton initially rejected the offer to recruit Mitoma. However, if the transfer fee really goes up to 90 million pounds, it is worth considering selling the player. It is true that Mitoma has achieved clear results within the team, but at the same time, it is clear that he is not a player who will attract offers from big clubs. However, Mitoma would naturally want to continue his career in the PL.
